Finding Balance

With so many things screaming for our attention each day, finding time to do the things we know are good for us can be a real challenge. Here you will find a few tips to help you start to move towards balance, one tiny step at a time.




Insanity

It is natural to feel resistance to what I’m about to say...but hang in here with me for just a few minutes.


If you keep doing things the way you are doing them now, you will keep getting the same results: Exhaustion, overwhelm, frustration, and the feeling that you just can’t get ahead. (Yep! You are NOT alone!) It is Insanity! In the wise words of a genius, The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”- Albert Einstein


Stop the Insanity

So…let’s try something different! Something radical! Something that once you read this your inner voice might scream “THAT’S THE LAST THING I HAVE TIME FOR!!!”


Ready….?


Take a DEEP breath…(Like, close your eyes and breathe in your nose, hold it a second, and let it go). Seriously, close your eyes. 😊


What is this new thing that you don’t have time for?


S L O W I N G D O W N…….


And guess what? You JUST DID IT when you took that breath! (I kinda tricked you there! 😊)


Seriously though, there is tons of science behind this concept. It not only breaks the cycle of insanity in your day-to-day life activities and allows you to think better and get more done, it also helps your body move out of attack mode (aka Fight or Flight) in to a calmer state. This calmer state is HUGELY beneficial to your body because being constantly stressed makes you more likely to get sick.


Magic & Secret Weapons


Your breath is your secret weapon!


You always have it with you, and it directly influences your body and brain in a positive way! When you close your eyes to take the breath, it is like MAGIC! For those few seconds nothing exists but your breath, and a delicious much needed sense of peace!

How’s that for making the giant To-Do list disappear?! 😊


So what’s stopping you from trying this?


What do you have to lose?


More importantly, what do you have to gain???


The Challenge


So I challenge you...throughout your day when you notice the feelings of stress, anxiety, overwhelm, frustration (you know, the usual suspects)…Close your eyes and take a nice, big, slow, deep breath (or two or three). Really notice how it feels when the air comes into your nose and fills up your lungs, hold a second or two, and LET IT GO!



Success & Progress

That’s it! Who knew slowing down could be so easy!! The more you practice this the better you will feel and focus…and the more you will accomplish!


Notice how doing this one simple good deed for yourself (of slowing down to breathe mindfully) opens up space for other forms of self care and moves you one tiny step at a time in the direction of balance.


It's the Journey, not the destination!
